A charming village house that once served as the local butcher shop. Generation after generation, layers have been glued one over another, each eating away a few millimetres of living space, recalling the shrinking rooms of Boris Vian’s L’Écume des jours. The project turns into an archaeological dig; Every day the owner arrives with fresh material from the hardware store, ready to add one more layer to the cake. We talk him into returning it all and scraping one more layer off the walls instead. Step by step, the original materials and value of a centuries-old construction reappear.
